Car Accident

What To Do If You Just Had An Oregon Car Accident

If you were just involved in a car accident in Oregon, follow these three steps to ensure you protect yourself:

  1. Call 911 if you are, or if any other party involved in the car accident is, seriously injured;
  2. If possible, move all vehicles involved in the car accident to a safe location off the road; and
  3. Take clear photographs of:
  • Damage to all vehicles involved in the car accident;
  • License plates of all other vehicles involved;
  • Driver’s license of all other drivers involved; and
  • Insurance cards of all other drivers involved.

If you cannot take pictures then make sure to write down the name, address, and driver’s license number of all other drivers involved. Of course, you will also want to write down the insurance information for all other drivers, but writing down the other driver’s name, address and driver’s license information is most important.  Writing down only insurance information is NOT sufficient and may make it impossible for you to recover damages for your accident-related property damage and injuries.
